The door clicks shut behind her and the sound is like permission.

She screams.

There is an imperceptible and catastrophic snap.

She stands there in front of the bunker, very still--moreso than any (sane) human being has a right to be. She watches the light change as it filters through the trees. An hour passes. Maybe two.

Finally, she turns and stares at the door. She feels vaguely in pain, yet clean and closed over, like a cauterized wound.

It will all be well.

It has to be.

She opens the door.
