Mary Anne sits curled in a corner of the shower stall.
I can't do it, and as for you
Her clothes are in a soggy pile at the other end of the shower. She's contemplating burning them later, when she gets out.
Can you in good conscience even ask me to
If she gets out.
Cause what do you care about the great divide
The water is freezing but that's not why she's shaking.
As long as you come down on the winner's side

"Hate to waste your time like that. Just grab me a towel?"

She gets unsteadily to her feet and steps out of the shower.

"Your neck looks as if a vice was placed there, your wrists looks bruised and sprained, if not broken, and that one ankle looks like it's swelling." His eyes return to her face. "Want to tell me who worked you over?"
no subject
"Went back to the castle," she murmurs.
"Not ours, but theirs--'s where Namo and Gorlim are living now. We...we got invited to Christmas and I wanted to ask...I wanted to talk to Namo."

"And surprisingly enough, that wasn't what he was upset about."
no subject
"Then what was he upset about?"
no subject
She tilts her head.
"He asked me to sleep with Gorlim, came onto me, threatened to wrip my soul from my body...I ended up spilling about the alternate path where we'd slept together. He didn't believe me until he rooted around in my head and saw. He didn't take it well. Somewhere in there I think he suggested a threesome..."
She sighs, shaking her head. "We were both out of our minds, to say the least."
no subject
"My my. What a day you've had. What a day he's had. A threesome?"
He smirks faintly.
"Did you accept?"
no subject
"As for less complicated pairings, we left that up to Gorlim."
no subject
He moves up to massage salve into her wrists.
"Legs, getting involved with them again... I mean, why would the god ask you to fuck his lover? What gave him the idea you would be up for that?"
no subject
"No. I mean, I will but...I just wanted to come home."
She lifts one shoulder in a shrug. "He seems to think Gorlim's attracted to me; he just wants to make his lover happy. And I'll fuck anything that moves--why would he think I'd have a problem?"
No one's bitter here.
no subject
"I find it hard to believe that the creature who clung to you as he did upon the other path thinks you nothing more than a whore." Then he kicks himself. Why the hell was he defending the cold prick? He didn't even like him.
no subject
"But maybe he's not thinking at all. Maybe that's the problem."
no subject
"I don't think he ever did." He frowns. "Or he thinks too much. What do you think?"
no subject
"Now you're just talking in circles, lover."
no subject
"I like circles." He wipes his hands and leans back. "Will you? Sleep with him? Or them both? Think you could do it?"
no subject
"I don't know. I really don't know."
no subject
He's quiet for a little while, then sighs.
"I think this will cause something bad to only become worse. I've felt the god on the fringes of my sphere for a bit now."
no subject
She tilts her head back, staring at the ceiling. "I warned him I'd complicate things. But he didn't seem worried about that."
no subject
"Come on, Legs. You're a card. Start thinking like one. Why does he so need you to do this? What does he seek to gain through this?"
no subject
"I don't know what he wants, other than to make Gorlim happy and he thinks this'll do it. A night with me--'One night. A dozen. Years.'--that's what he said." She rakes a hand through her hair. "Thought it'd look better if he beat Gorlim to the punch in asking, if it seemed like his idea. He wants a woman for his lover."
Her mouth twists. "And I am available."
Still, she hasn't let go of his hand.
no subject
"You aren't available, which is why he chose you. You're safe." He smiles. "You're married, and he knows you would never leave me and force Gorlim away from him. You are the devil he knows, Legs." He shrugs. "Ultimately, it's Gorlim's decision, if you're already willing. He is the one who says yes or no at this point."
He's thoughtfully quiet for a moment.
"However, be careful. Someone so close to me, moving people about as the god is... Something isn't right. We all brought Gorlim back, thinking it was best for him, but what about those around him, hmm?"
Hell, he'd just wanted the moping SOB out of his damn sphere. He traded one for the other, it seemed.
